Pf35 Oil Filter
I went to get some oil filters the other day and they didnt have any AC Delco PF35's. So i asked if they had any and he said they were discontinued. WTF.. The guy said they were replaced by the PF1218 and the PF35L. The 1218 is $4 and the 35L is $10..
So whats the difference between the two? The look exactly the same.. Ive been using the the PF35 for 21 years! I like the PF35! I want my PF35 back!!! Randy

I run the 1218s on my sb. what I have been told is that they are the same filter as the pf35, but have an antidrainback valve added. im not sure on the pf35L, but I think it may be a "longlife filter"? As often as I change oil & filters, i couldnt see paying $10 for a filter. crazyL

Same thing with the fram PH13. Some chainstores won't stock 'em. Now I use the Wix 51061 or Napa 1061. Same size, better filter.

The PF35L is a "long" filter. I use them on my truck because that's the first thing i see at the local auto zone.

Actually, IIRC, the PF35L is a synthetic-element filter; hence the $10 cost instead of $3. Think Mobil1 filter. The PF1218 is just the PF35 with an anti-drainback valve, and is the standard filter for newer smallblocks with proper clearance (my mom's '97 Suburban used one). I think the long filter is the PF45. Could be wrong on that, and maybe the 35L is long and synthetic!

You are exactly right Project1970, PF35 and Pf1218 have the exact same media pack in them. I work for a filter company.

sooo..The PF35L is synthetic filtered. =$10.
And the PF1218 is paper filtered with antidrainback valve. =$4. Correct?? Pf25 is the short filter. Randy

I need the Pf25 because I have very little clearance around the headers, but I cannot find it anywhere. Does it have an ACDelco equivelant or do I have to get another brand?

I like the Napa Gold 1061 and have used them on my Blazer for years. They seem to be the best bang for the buck.

My local Farm and Fleet is the only place I can fin AC parts. The PF35 is the regular media filter and is called Duraguard and the PF35L is the synthetic media and called Ultraguard, I've got a 35L on the Blazer right now since they were all out of regular 35's. You can order off Delco's website too the last time I checked.

I prolly should've mentioned it. If you want a cross-reference for all brands...use the 1994 (or 1993-1997 for that matter) Camaro Z28. The PF25 is used there because there is NO room under that thing.

Would I want a synthetic filter for synthetic oil? I'm using Valvoline Syntech 20w50. Or is filter medium irrelevent to type of lubricant?

Uh yeah I know that the Pf25 is ACDelco. I re-read my post and I realized I worded that wrong. I thought maybe they got rid of it at the same time they got rid of the Pf35 because I can't find it at both the parts store that I knew used to carry it. I thought maybe they got rid of it and used another just like they did with the 35 going to the 1218.
