:no
GM trucks do not like mopar engines at all, buy a corvette 427 (LS7). Why bastardize your truck and it is a lot of work changing trans, driveshaft, linkage, mounts and wiring |

You can buy a LS based engine for much less that will do the same thing. The LS3 is 430HP/424 torque. If you want the big power (and $$) you can get an LS7 that is 500HP/470 torque or the new Corvette is 450/450. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_small-block_engine) Why go to all that trouble to put something in that will fight you the whole way for no gain over what has been done before?

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
I don't see anything wrong with the idea except the lack of aftermarket support and all the legwork you would do figuring out the transplant. I will never understand why some swaps in certain vehicles are acceptable and others are taboo. Different strokes, figuratively and literally In this case.

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
It's an interesting idea. A hellcat 6.4 in a c10 would be cool. The problem is more with the cost of swap and performance parts. Mopars are always more expensive to build then a Chevy motor. You can get the same performance from an ls for a lot less. Plus hemimotors are externally larger limiting your useable space.

Got it out of 64 hearse, even got the yoke in the tranny. Traded a pair of '72 doors and a 2 barrel Holley for it! Got it running, building the truck around it as we speak, need a 55 1/2" drive shaft, steering shaft and master cylinder. I'll get some pics someday.... Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
I can tell you this, it would get a lot more attention than any LS swap would. The comments above pretty much sum up why it isn't very common however.
I would love to put a Hemi or a Ford Coyote engine in a Chevy for no other reason than to piss the purists off. lol |

That's cuz a Cummins isn't MOPAR... just happens to be yarded out of one.

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
It be cooler to swap an older hemi in, the newer ones are not as desirable to retrofit.

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
I got a 5.7 hemi in my jeep. That thing rocks. Got a 6.0 in my chevy 2500 van. It ouruns alot of cars light to light. To me the 5.7 pulls a little harder mid range.

For those that haven't seen it yet, the new 6.4 Dodge Hemi Hellcat engine has 707 HP, sitting on the showroom floor.
707 Horse Power and an eight spd automatic.

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
The Hellcat engine is a 6.2 not a 6.4. It's a completely different engine than the naturally aspirated 392 found in the non Hellcat SRT and Scat Pack cars. I have a 2015 Scat Pack and love the 6.4 engine. It makes a ton of torgue and runs great in a heavy car. The 392 doesn't do well with forced induction though, which is why they went a completely different route with the Hellcat motor.

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
It would definitely be cool, just would take a ton of fab work to fit it in there. Not something I'd like to tackle.
The modern Chrysler V-8's seem to be pretty good, in my experience its the trans, rear, and the rest of the vehicle that falls apart.

Re: Hemi anyone? 6.1/ 6.4
I've seen quite a few of the newer hemi's having problems with valve seats falling out of the heads, causing valves to hang open and sometimes causing more serious damage. But if you really get technical what engines don't have some sort of common problems these days.
