Cross Member swap engine mount question
Found a line a used x-member from a 78'. The 78 is set up for a big block. My current x-member is set up for a small block. Can I just take my old mounts and and use with the 78' x-member? My truck is already set up for disc brakes and power steering but the current x-member was pancaked and rides like a turd. Want to go back to the stock x-member and do drop springs/spindles. Thanks,
Jon |

Re: Cross Member swap engine mount question
I want to say they are the same. Look at the disk brake conversion threads. They have a lot of info about front end components.
We also don't know what year your pancaked corss member is. Does pancaked mean slammed? Or cut up? Alex |

Re: Cross Member swap engine mount question
By pancaked I mean sectioned. Done horribly by PO. I can only assume the x-member in there now is the original to 66'.

Re: Cross Member swap engine mount question
On the '73-'87 trucks there is no difference between small block engine mounts and big block mounts.

Re: Cross Member swap engine mount question
Are your old mounts 65 or later... The 64-66 perches will line up with the holes on the later cross members. And as Capt said the others bolt up the same. Alot of GM stuff bolts up the same.
