Re: Needing guidance and advice
Use a mighty hammer and pound it in submission where the steering box would protrude into the frame, doesn't need to go far. mmay need to apply a lil heat . Even herd of some people just running spacers too.

Re: Needing guidance and advice
Here is how I fixed my frame for Power steering. Took a section of a front frame bracket (same gauge as the frame) and widened it a bit at the top. Cut a hole in the frame and welded in.

Re: Needing guidance and advice
I wondered if I couldn't run spacers. That's what I think I might try as my frame just got blasted and powder coated and I really don't like the idea of heating it or beating the heck out of it. I'm not sure that I won't have to notch the core support bracket a little also if I tighten the gearbox to the frame. I think a 1/4" spacer on all bolts will do the trick.

Re: Needing guidance and advice
you could also shave a tiny amount off the back of the steering box.
I have read on here that spacers throws off your steering geometry but alot of guys have done it. btw nice job rick

Re: Needing guidance and advice
I used a couple of washers behind an 86 power box on a 69. (The 86 up box is a little bigger) It worked just fine. I drove the wheels off that truck. There is no reason I can see why you could not just double up some washers between the box and frame like I did.

Re: Needing guidance and advice
Have you tried bolting it on or are you assuming it won't fit without dimpling or spacers.
Some 67 frames need no modifications. |

Re: Needing guidance and advice
Yeah I tried bolting it on and the bottom will touch but the top sticks out 3/8". So I think if I would role it up just a little it would even out at about a 1/4".
