Why driveline angles are so important
Not news to many,, but this is a very COOL demonstration of what happens when the trans output shaft and differential input shaft are not perfectly parallel. Only makes sense that this HAS to cause serious traction problems.

Re: Why driveline angles are so important
That is a good demo. Couple places in there it surely needed a CV joint.

Re: Why driveline angles are so important
Definately a cool demo. Now the question.. how much pinion angle will get you in phase?

Re: Why driveline angles are so important
With a four link we ran them at zero in relation to the trans. We also set the drive line up to be as much of a straight line as we could. This in a drag car application presents the lowest amount of wasted energy in the drive line. In the old days with we would put a couple of degress down on the pinion so when the spring wrapped up and the traction bar pulled up tight the angle was as straight as we could get it.

Re: Why driveline angles are so important
+1 to this. We snapped a torque arm and sent our driveline angle somewhere between the moon and the pavement....
end results (pics coming soon) is most of the differential in the pan, and a lot of fixing to do.
