Need motor mount advice please

I'm trying to get everything together to finally install my motor but, going to have to change motor mounts on the cross member. The motor has three bolt holes on each side and, I can get those mounts easily. It's the ones on the cross member that I'll have to change. I have these and need the type that has a tube welded across the top. I did a search but really didn't find what I need to know. I wouldn't mind buying some new ones but, would use old ones of of another truck of the correct year model. I would also like to keep the motor in the same place if possible unless there is a reason I should move it forward in needed. Are there mounts available that will work with the stock cross member pieces? Would greatly appreciate some advice.
Edit: I saw some in P.O.L. like this that appear like they will work or, are there better setups?

What do ya'll think?
Thanks!

We have been using these mounts. They may not be as nice looking as the 89 dollar set. But you can get them for 12 or 14 dollars a piece at OReillys. We have a few sets in other trucks. They seem to be fine so far.

Re: Need motor mount advice please

Those would most likely work. Kinda funny, I was at my local O'Reillys and, they couldn't find anything like that. I even showed them a pic from CCP that had the more expensive mounts. The only reason I can think of that the others might be better and hold up better is that, I have a fairly high HP ( 450 ) motor. Do you by chance have a part #?

Thanks!

Edit: Never mind, just saw the name and number on the box...LOL

The original 2282 engine mounts really aren't very strong of a engine mount and can come apart when used with a high HP engine. I prefer to use the better designed '73+ engine mounts. You will need the frame brackets from a '73-'86 C20/30 or a '87-'91 R2500/3500. However these will move your engine slightly from it's original location.

Captain when you say slightly how much we talking? thanks ....... with the high HP if you use the OEM style mounts for that year and want to be safer put a chain on the left side of the engine to the frame

I'm guessing it would move forward , correct? How much would it move the motor forward? That wouldn't be a bad thing thoungh...it would give a little more room for the distributer. Do those brackets basically bolt right in or , do you have to make mods to cross member or brackets for them to work? That wouldn't be hard, I'm a pretty good fabricator but, if I could avoid having to modify them that would be even better. Do you by any chance have a set of those you could sell? Or, will after market brackets from someone like CCP or brothers work if they are from the year trucks you listed? Pretty sure they would be more expensive but, at this point, I don't care that much...just trying to get this thing going. Thanks for your help Captain, It's really appreciated!

Re: Need motor mount advice please

I did not have to move motor forward for HEI. Now I run a MSD ready to run for more upper rpm stability of spark. The 406cui fits just fine in the 283 place. I did go from front mount to side mounts 67-72. First 2 pic are Al's 62 in forward spot, the second 2 are mine in stock spot.

Re: Need motor mount advice please

You don't need to move motor forward for HEI. I removed Cap and distributer came out in stock spot. Your over thinking it. The two motors are the same small block base.
