1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
Here it is guys...I'm just never going to get around to finishing it. I got about 70% of the way through the restore and stopped and haven't touched it in a long time. I'm sick to my stomach over this so I just want this to be quick and painless.
All metal work was done by a retired guy who worked in the welding shop at Sikorski Aircraft. It is top of the line work. The cab alone cost me an arm and a leg. Tri-pro new floor, new rockers, new cab corners. Professionally coal slag blasted and then finished with SPU epoxy primer and undercoated w/Eastwood rubberized undercoating. All the rest of the body panels were also slag blasted and finished in SPU epoxy. Bed sides were out of CA, zero rust and now undercoated. Doors were out of a 72 GMC from the dessert in AZ, zero rust. The fenders (undercoated), hood, cowl, radiator support are all perfect. The frame was sand blasted and finished also in SPU epoxy. I searched all over the county to get the best parts for this truck and had everything shipped to me. Here's a list of parts off the top of my head...I'm sure I'll forget alot of stuff... -Painless Wiring Kit -Perfect 68 steering wheel w/perfect horn button. -Stainless West Coast Mirrors -Synergy Suspension Urethane Leaf Spring bushing kit -Complete Body mount kit for cab and radiator support -SM465 Tranny w/Rockwell T-221 Transfer Case completely rebuild and painted Chevrolet Orange. (I was able to find one of the last rebuild kits in the country for this T/Case and it wasn't cheap. That rebuild alone cost me a ton) This tranny and transfer case was completely broken down, rebuilt with all new gaskets and seals and done right. It is now sitting on my garage floor with gear oil in both and ready to be installed. -All new door hardware, in and out. -I have all the original glass, deluxe. Has the stainless steel trim -New Tilt steering column -Drum Brakes are all blasted and SPU epoxy, all the brake cylinders have been completely rebuilt and are brand new. -Heater box in perfect shape -Like new heat control -Doug Thorley Tri-Y chrome headers, still new in box. -NOS Black Dash Pad -Like new original Black 72 door panels. -6 lug rally wheels There's way more stuff that I have for this truck. The original donor truck was out of RI and was 2 wheel drive (C code VIN). RI didn't do titles for vehicles this old so I have an old registration and the bill of sale. The frame is an originally 68 GMC 4x4 K-10. I was building it to look like a 70 Chevy on the exterior but wanted to stick with 68 stuff on the interior and powertrain, like correct steering wheel, shifters and shift knobs which I was able to acquire and currently have. I was even able to find a T-221 correct shifter boot and ring for the T/Case shifter...yes I'm that crazy! More pics are coming just scroll down in the thread, I can only do 5 now. Everything that I took apart I meticulously bagged and labeled. And everything you need to finish this project is all there except: Motor, Seat, Radiator, Front Bumper, Door and window rubber kit (GMC Pauls is my suggestion) As you can clearly see I spent a substantial amount of money to get to this point and now I'm gonna lose my shirt but I don't want to see it sit any more. No expense was spared on this build and I can assure that rust will never be an issue...ever with this truck. I'm looking to get $9000 or best reasonable offer for everything and there's WAY more stuff for this build in my garage in boxes that I can't even remember right now. Any questions just ask, I have absolutely nothing to hide. If you're local come and take a look, you won't be disappointed. Last edited by Patsfan34; 09-23-2014 at 08:45 AM. |

Re: 1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
Sorry to hear you have to sell it. Looks beautiful. If you decide to part it, I could use the fenders and wheel wells. I can pick up in person, no shipping. Hope you can sell the whole project complete.

I feel for you man, sorry to hear that your selling it.
I think its going to get moved to the trucks for sale area since you are not parting it out. If you decide to sell parts Im interested in the door panels. Again, sorry for to see this nice project get stalled.

Re: 1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
1. Stainless West Coast Mirrors. The door are already fitted for these mirrors with mounting studs already welded into the doors and the holes already pre-drilled in the upper door frame.
2. Complete Synergy Susp. kit, including tranny mount and t/case mount with every other bushing you need for this entire truck including 4 NEW U-bolts (Epoxy primed) with new washers and nuts. 3. Gauge cluster in amazing condition. The donor truck had original 59K miles on it 4. Doug Thorley Headers, brand new still in box. 5. Painless wiring kit, New steering column hardware, perfect black mirror mount cover, new gas tank grommet. |

Re: 1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
Don't understand why these pics are posting upsidedown...sorry!
1. Hood latch assembly, battery tray with new steel bottom welded in. Both were blasted and Epoxy primed. Will never rust again! 2. All the inner door hardware and headlight buckets, again all blasted and Epoxy primed. 3. One of the nicest original 68 Steering wheels in America with the nicest 68 Chevrolet Button horn I've ever seen. Paul Duncan this box off parts was still sealed until today so I could take pics. Thanks again Paul, those parts are a treasure! 2 different style mirrors that mount to the cab roof, not the windshield. Also near perfect windshield wipers. Usually this are all cracked and pitted, not these. 4. Deluxe heater control, Chrome Alternator brackets, Double rib pulley, and a Chrome hi-flow water pump for small block chevy 5. Perfect tunnel cover blasted and primed without the holes cut out yet. Let the body shop do it. I have the tranny and t/case rings for the outline. And I still have more stuff in boxes I just don't have anymore time today to spend on this. Literally want this gone as soon as possible this is torture! Re: 1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
What do you need for the rad/cab/ mounts, leaf spring bushings, and best two blue hub dials shipped to 59901? Are the bolts included in the kits? Standard height on the cab I assume? Damage to the blue dials? Thanks and sorry you have to part with the project. Pete

Re: 1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
Not trying to be rude but maybe you should move this to the for sale section. Before everyone's wish list of parts grows out of hand.

Re: 1970 4x4 Shortbed project/parts
Guys sorry for the delay in responding about the parts inquirers. At this time I want to sell this as a complete project. It took me countless hours and significant funds to acquire what I have to this point. I'm not saying I won't part it out but I'm not at that point yet. Let's give it another 2-3 weeks. If someone still hasn't snatched it up by then I won't have much of a choice. Thanks for all the kind words guys, it's really breaking my heart to see this go...especially since all the hard stuff is done. I just don't have the time to finish it.
