cleaning axle tube

This may sound pretty stupid but does anyone have a tip or trick to cleaning out the inside of an axle tube while the gears are still in. I had a bit of water in there and it left some rust and gunk inside and I'd like to clean it out real good. Can I stuff the wand of my power washer in there without damaging anything ?

Re: cleaning axle tube

Try pulling the axles out, scrub tubes with a toilets brush (it's a perfect fit), then wipe back out with rag (may have to tape rag to a broom stick to reach all up in there good).
