S10 rear end??
I just got my S10 rear dropped off but I am a tad suspicious if it is the right one. Its a 2001 S10 Blazer 4x4 with ZR2 option. But What are these mounts on the axle housing? Shock mounts? Its 64-65 inches across, round pumpkin with the swelling at the housing. Help?

so do you think they are shock mounts? Or?? Did you keep them or cut them off? Regardless, thanks for the reassurance, what year was the S10 you used?

The majority of us would clean the stock brackets off and slick the axle off in the name of getting rid of scabs and making things look a bit cleaner. That said if it doesn't get in the way and you aren't concerned about the appearance of them under there so be it.

wondering if they are 2x4 axles?? but looks like a 4x4 axle. Guess I will find out when I pull the rear cover and count the splines....I think I will cut mine off....

Mine came out of a 4x4 2000 Olds Bravada, codes GT4 G80 (3:73 Eaton Gov-Locking). I had one out of a late 90's 4x4 S10 also GT4 G80 but it was drum brakes. I didn't see any S10s at the yard that had disk rear ends, just the Olds and Blazers. It also had the rear sway bar on it but I didn't grab it, wish I would have. Eventually I'll head back to Pick N Pull and grab one next time thier half off sale rolls around.
The flat part is the contact for the bump stop which is why I left mine on. If you don't care about the bump stop then I would go for it, it would clean it up. Just a tip. Look for a 4x4 Blazer or Bravada, they have the fat front sway bars that's the same out of the ZR2 and will drop right in place of the skinnier ones on the S10 trucks.

They are bump stop pads the rubber part is mounted to the frame

Did you keep them and utilize them in any way? Not sure if the sway bar will fit into my plans with the stock mounts... The dampner is questionable, need to look at a diagram for the S10 and see what it connects with...sorry guys, jusy want to keep it if it is useable..

I would keep it, bumps stops do serve a purpose. What is your S10 rear end going in, an S10 chassis or an AD chassis? I think the easiest thing to do is find one at a salvage yard or in a parking lot and just take a peek at it to see how it all goes together.

S10 4x4 is 1 inch wider than my 59. So it is doable... just change the wheel offset slightly and its a beefed rear that most so it should handle the LS1 HP
