86 K10 Summer Project
I haven't been on here in quite awhile. Here's a truck I've been building in my spare time for a friend of mine.
86 K10. Had a clapped out 350 in it when it showed up. 700r4 trans. 6 inch suspension lift I believe. Plenty of rust of course.

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
Rockers and cab corners didn't look too bad when I started, until I peeled off the patch panels that were riveted on...

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
All the junk cut off the passenger side. Surprisingly the cab supports are all still good.

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
looks great but I don't understand why you didn't remove the seat belts and the 4x4 shifter bezel??? you would have saved time and alot of tape.

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
Thanks for the compliments.
I believe the bed liner is made by SEM. I'll have to check the can. I was going to take the belts out but the bolts are seized. Tape was faster and a lot easier than drilling out broken bolts.

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
The wiring harness was hacked in this thing. I swapped in a good harness from a parts truck. Spent tonight getting all of the lights working.
The high beams wouldn't stay on without holding the switch. I had to replace the switch at the bottom of the steering column. That was fun to get to. The body work is pretty much done. If all goes to plan, the rest of the interior and the jambs are getting painted this weekend.

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
I saved most of your posts because soon i need to venture into the world of rust repair. I have a cab that is fairly rust free. Would I simply be able to cut off the rocker panels and cut out the rusty rocker panels on my truck and just weld them up instead of buy replacement panels?

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
Got the fenders and doors hung this weekend. They're aftermarket and we had a hell of a time getting them to fit. Took about 5 hours of trial and error to get the gaps and body lines to line up decently.

Interior is single stage. Outside is going to be base/clear.

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
I really like those inside door panels they look just a little different than the stock ones i think don't they? did the rockers and cab corners go fit in nicely?

Re: 86 K10 Summer Project
Yeah the door panels are different from the stock ones. The rockers fit ok. I had to cut about 1/4 inch wide section out of the cab corners to make them fit the door jamb, I guess they're designed to slip over the original corner.
