ARA Under Dash A/C Line Replacement

I thought I would share my latest project. Re-route and replace the hoses on the old hang down air conditioning in my 71. Hoses are dry rotted and bursted under pressure. It was installed in 1979 at a cost of $444.50 in Birmingham AL.

Re: ARA Under Dash A/C Line Replacement

Some more pictures. I have to figure out how to go from barbed connections to crimped connections on the hoses. My understanding is that 134a with the increased pressure requires the crimped connections. Anyone have advise on this?

Re: ARA Under Dash A/C Line Replacement

Last pictures until I can start putting the system back together. I'm also going to re-route the lines and put the receiver dryer on the passenger side of the radiator support instead of the left fender well to make the whole setup look better. If anyone has already done something similar I would certainly welcome any input.

Thanks Grumpy. I'll be headed down to Chattanooga in the next couple of weeks. I've found a shop there that installs cruise control on older vehicles. I've wanted to add cruise for a while now. Maybe we can meet and grab a cup of coffee when I'm down? Always nice to meet another board member.
