Need help with engine suffix

Considering buying a truck but owner isn't sure what engine is in it. I can't make out the casting number, but the engine suffix is HGR. Looked all over the internet and can't find that combination anywhere.

Can anyone help me out with the suffix???? HELP!!!!

As far as I can tell that is the whole suffix. From digging I found that typically a 3 character suffix began I think in 69. Usually the first of the three indicate C for car or T for truck. The last two indicate the application, type of vehicle, trans, etc.

I know it's not an original as it was a 6 cyl. But I want to find out what the block is as I don't want a 305 or 307.

If anything I've stated is incorrect, or if anyone can shed more light on this I would REALLY appreciate it.

I'll try to get over to look again, this time I'll bring some sandpaper.

Thanks!
