Manifolds

I found the link here somewhere and can't find the thread it was on. The thread had a bunch of other bolt on "stock" exhaust manifold type headers and manifolds.

Looking for center straight dumps for K 10.

Let's see pics of what you have please

Those most likely won't flow much (if any) better than 2 1/2 ram horns, which you can get for $120. The rule seems to be, don't bother with headers unless you do true long tubes.

Factory rams horn manifolds actually flow quite well. Long tubes are not a great power adder, either. They do move the peak of the torque curve to a lower RPM but if the cost is over $300.00 they aren't worth the investment. Katech did a comparison on the dyno between stock manifolds, shorty headers and long tube headers. Shorties gained 5% over stock manifolds and long tubes gained 7% over stock manifolds on the LS6 and LS7 engines. It's hard to argue with the dyno results. On the LS7, the difference was a whopping 10 horsepower! I won't lift a wrench for that.

Those are beautiful but very expensive. You would need the later model Corvette aluminum heads with the D shaped exhaust port to get a port match.

Here's what I used. They look better than cast iron and they match standard production heads. Mine are 1981 Corvette (first year for stainless tubing manifolds) with 2" outlet. 1982 and newer has 2 1/2 " outlets. I removed the heat shields, removed the AIR tubes and had the holes welded up plus a couple of cracks where all the tubes joined up. Then I coated them with Eastwood stainless exhaust coating and put in new studs.

Purchase price used was $35. and total invested is about $150.00

I was seriously considering the Speedway manifolds before I ran across the Vette ones. The Speedways are also available in polished stainless for $499. My build just didn't have the budget for that.

The Corvette ones place the outlet flange in the exact same place as the cast iron rams horns. The Speedway manifolds are block huggers if you need a little more clearance.

Yeah, they are pricey. I'd go with the Vette ones; I assume they are less than or near half the price, fit better if you already have center non-angled dumps, probably keep the starter cooler, and probably flow as good or better.

They do look cool, though! You could paint them gold color and call them McDonald's Golden Arches! LOL

If you go looking for factory Corvettes here is what you are looking for.They media blast very nicely. I used ARP header studs in stainless. They are fine thread on the outer end and should hold better. Also go to NAPA and get stock exhaust manifold gaskets for the year manifold you use. These GM style never leak. Here's the right side also.

These are 1986 Corvette stainless steel. If you removed the AIR tubes and mig welded them shut with stainless wire, the bolt tubes will allow the use of stock A/C compressor passenger side brackets. 3/8" thick flanges, 3" collector bolts right on. The outlet is designed for a ball flange 2.3" outlet but you could cut it off if you wanted the full 3" but I'd keep it for anti-reversion. The tubes are 1.5" OD.

That year Corvette did not have D ports. These collectors would work perfect.

If you don't use the ball flange you would have to mig the 3" flange to seal on the backside.

BTW, if you want to buy them, I need to upgrade to premium first. I have so many left-over parts I should just do it.

Those would work nicely. The end pipes go under the plugs. On mine there is no ball flange, just flat like the cast iron ones. I also used the stock spark plug shields to protect the plug boots. They're a little hard to see in the photo under the pipes.

Not that I'm aware of. You might like the "shorty" headers that come out at an angle NOT to be confused with "block huggers". Like these that fit 67 and up:

The 86 vette tubular manifolds will fit 67-72 pickups with very minor clearance issues, and flat-out fit if the engine is in the rear position. All non-stock headers have to be hooked up, they rarely bolt to the existing exhaust except they do make headers for later model trucks that bolt up like 88 and up.
