Re: How many are daily drivers?

Mine was my DD for 32 years. Five years ago I retired and since then it's only used for occasional heavy hauling.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

I drive mine to work two days a week. Have a 68 mile round trip and the gas bill is pretty high to drive everyday and I don't want to rack up the miles. It is the work horse on the Sat/Sun. When not in the truck I take the generic Volvo S60. Great car but it's not my truck.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

I've owned my truck for almost 20 years. It's the only vehicle I own, so yeah, it gives a new definition to "daily driver"

Use mine as a daily driver. Put over 400 miles a week on it.

I just got my '70 C-20 but it's a daily. I also haven't been driving too much daily

Had to cruise it down Ocean Ave in this weekend's gorgeous weather for sure.

My truck may also be pitchin in on some farm work come '15 and hauling a travel trailer.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

I took my 90 1500 off the road, sold it, and made my 69 a DD. most people were telling me its time for a newer truck when the 90 was on the road and don't understand why I went older instead of newer. THEY JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!!

Re: How many are daily drivers?

they think that, the newer the vehicle, the more reliable/ or efficient it is

which i think is a false statement

preventive maintenance is key for any vehicle =0)

Re: How many are daily drivers?

I don't drive it every day. But my 66 GMC is the one that I drive and use the most. Im contemplating taking it apart pretty soon. Install a 73 up front suspension and 5 hole rear under it. change the bed to a stepside. and swap the 250 six for a 1955 GMC 287 Pontiac engine. the reason are to get better brakes taller rear gears. five hole rims and the little 287 V8 should be able to pull the taller gears better than the 250 six.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Drive mine all week. Only 8 miles to work but, alot of trips to college and back for the kids. I average about 220 miles a week. 14 mpg. Which is up about 3 or 4 from my 01 gmc 6.0.
You can fix anything to get home with a hand full of tools pretty much. 2001 got a new ecm last spring. Cant fix that with a hammer and pliers. I was close to fixing it with gas and a match !

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Used to be. People around here drive like complete morons. I have a short 8 mile drive to work, but it's packed full of red lights, bumpers, and idiots. I can't replace my old stuff... so I drive the Z71 most days (15 years old now... almost a classic! )

I try to take the 67 C10 or 65 Mustang to work at least once or twice a week. Unless I NEED to use the Z71, the toys see a lot of weekend duty.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Mines been a daily driver since mid 1998. First as the kids high school and collage rides, then mine starting about 4 years ago. Took about 5 months off as I freshened it up in 2012. First picture as driven until 2012. Second picture as it sits now. About 12K miles since the redo.

Mine about a year and about 2200 miles since Vortec motor. Love that exhaust in front of rear tires, real hot rod truck style and sound

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Glad to see this thread. I have been considering selling my 07 GMC 2500 and looking for a C10 short bed as a daily driver. Fuel milage couldn't be any worse.
