Made some progress on my 68!
I have finally got around to working on my 68 the past few weeks. I am building this truck out of mostly recycled parts just so I can tell prople who drive hybrids that they are hipocrites.lol Here is the list of used parts so far:
Engine, rebuilt 307 from a friend of mine complete with Edelbrock carb, intake and headers with 20 thousand miles for $300 Radiator, also from a friends 72 GTO that was recored a year ago for $75 Wheels and tires, Craigslist 15X8.5 Western Slot mags with good 235/70/15's $200 Painted rear sport bumper for $75 I had to to buy some new parts like belts, hoses, clutch, motor mounts, alternator, starter etc. I think I am doing pretty good on rounding up decent deals on used parts so far though. My plans are to make this truck look like a day 2 hot rod from around circa 1975(before my time) and was parked for a few decades. Going to add a vintage sun or SW tach and guages when I find them. This truck still has its orginal paint is is very clean for a Nebraska truck. Here are a few pics. |

Your truck looks good. I like your build plan. The best way to recycle something is to use it for it's intended use. Good luck on your build.

I pour a quart of oil out of my window every time I pass a hybrid, just to piss them off. Just messing with you.
Back to the original post, love that blue. Diggin' the truck.

Now, as for back to the original post, I'd love to have another like Omaha's 68....Maybe he'd like to trade for my Altima? It's got 174,000 on it. And, except for the normal wear parts like brakes, oil, tires, etc., I think I have put just under $0 in it .... Granted, I like driving the truck more. Damn, do I feel like a hypocrite.

Looks good. Hunt you a shroud! And if that is a flex fan find a stockish one, those are notorious for coming through the hood if not giving you a close haircut bent over the fender.

Re: Made some progress on my 68!
Thanks for the replies everyone. The hybrid comment was mostly aimed at most of the Prius Drivers that I encounter around here.lol I am on the hunt for a better fan shroud, and the missing hood and right eyebrow trim plus a few other things. I cant wait to get this thing on the road, but that will have to wait untill spring to keep the salt and liquid de icer off of it when the snow comes. This is my first 67-72 C10, but I am sure it will not be my last!
