Parking Break.
I need a parking break for my truck, and I have heard the Cadillac calipers for the rear disk breaks do not do very well.
After searching I have not found anyone who has put one on the back of a 203. So can it be done or does someone know of a company who has one pre-made. |

Re: Parking Break.
swamp rat has it. get a hold of any of the big names in aftermarket drivelines. i would bet a dollar there is no pre-existing kit for this. the output park brake is a higher end mod that goes on trucks being modified. almost zero trucks with 203s get modified much before the 203 goes in the trash or loans its goodies to a doubler. there is very little outside of part time kits and doubler conversion parts available for the 203.
before i considered a custom set up, i would re-consider the disk brake rear. you will have the better park brake with drums by far. driveline brakes are at a disadvantage in holding power from the start due to the force multiplication of the rear end gears. so, unless you can scrounge or build the parts to do a band brake on the driveline, you are trading off a lot of holding power for those rear disks. |
