electric water pumps
I was looking to put an electric water pump on my 350. I like the CSI water pump, it says it pumps 30-37 GPM. Has anyone here used one before? I was looking for some input, pros and cons and such. If anyone can help that would be great. Thanks Landon

Landon,
It's been questioned before whether they actually pump enough water...I have one on my 66 (pic attached) and have cooling problems. However it's a race motor that wasn't designed for steet duty....but after asking several people and doing some research the continual response was that these pumps are for 1/4 mile cars. Thats not to say it won't work...assuming you have a stock motor and a good/large radiator.

Why do you want one?On the street you will not lose that much HP.If it is a street truck,I would go with a good belt drive pump.If you want to free up some power, put in a good set of electric fans with a shroud.

i've been told you 'can' run them on a street motor as long as things are pretty mild as they dont have nearly the flow of the mechanical models. and for the price tag get yourself a good aluminum one from weiland or someone for half the cost... that way you'll not have overheating issues.

That thing looks fast! How fast is it and do you have it on dragtruk.com if not you should have. That site was started by a bunch of dodge guys. I can't wait to get my drag truck done but my chassis man is way slow!

DJRACER:
it's not my truck....rather my Chevelle...don't know how fast...was told 9.40-9.80 by the builder on initial 6 passes....but things like this are always exagerated. 72gmcshorty: The fans on my Chevelle are from Flexalite (http://www.flex-a-lite.com/) twin 14"'s that run all the time...no thermostat. I have twin 14"'s in my truck that are very nice...I can post pics if you want.

The aftermarket industry says that electric water pumps can not really be used on the street. They say when detroit (Or japan probably) switches over to a 32 volt system, (!!!) then electric water pumps will be able to do the job properly.
