1965 K20 My Latest Find
I've been anxiously awaiting and it Just arrived this morning ! 1965 K20 ex Fire dept brush fire truck from Western Nebraska. 8791 original mile truck ( I just put 10 more miles on it ) 283 Power brakes , still has 4 of the original tires, all 4 original spiral shocks and 100% of its original paint. Runs and drives excellent. A big THANK YOU to Sodly for looking it over and convincing me to throw in a bid with his pictures and description and test drive. The white 1963 C30 Panel was also found earlier this year about 50 miles from this K20.

Wow! .. Just WOW! I presume more pics are coming. If not, I think it would be fair to ban you from the board for cruel and unusual teasing.

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find
Looks like they added a section when they cast that pad Pimp. Notice how flat the background is on the original. Interesting.

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find
It almost looks like its set up for a person to stand on the front bumper extension platform and serve as a guard rail.

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find
This truck is incredible underneath. I was just crawling around under it and the front axle and tie rod are clean bare steel, not even a hint of rust. Same with the driveshafts. Heres some more pictures. Came with the original 1964 dated title and dealer invoice.

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find
i bet those vise grips are vintage, so is there a build sheet behind the seat, doesnt matter you got the dealers copy and even the key 4 digit code, does the rig work??? pumping out flames on the side??? or high pressure washing!!!

Thanks Evan, Hows yours coming ? Front and rear !? Makes it easier for cleaning the hood. They gotta go ! Quote:
Banning or pictures ????? Will get some new ones and add to the thread. It turns over but I smell old gas. No build sheet, may have to do with that particular assembly line. No protecto plate either. The invoice will do !

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find
Of course I'm only kidding. Your contributions here are worth more than can be said.
A unique rig like this in true low mile/survivor form represents a big challenge to the serious collector. Restoration vs preservation vs abstention. Hmmm... Go all out, or do nothing? I know that a thorough cleaning and detailing with preservation in mind can be almost as difficult and time consuming as a full-blown restoration. Perhaps a good scrub is all it really needs. Either way, I'll enjoy any photo updates and progress reports as you have time. |

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find
Great find. Now to jump on the pic band wagon you really need to have a album on each awesome truck that you are hoarding. You only have one teaser album in your profile.

Tsk tsk tsk! No interior pics, just plain sloppy or lazy?
Custom Seat I'm assuming fabric and vinyl? Original window ticket is a lucky find. J for Janesville Plant Extra grounding straps for the Oil Bath Air Cleaner, Static dischargeÉ

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find
Had a chance to check the Data book on the seat, option code Z52 is "Full-Depth Foam" not the custom cloth seat cover . My white 65 has the same seat, its just a stiffer seat foam.
