auto crossmember help
so I have a 60 apache and I am using the original frame...I did a front stub and rear end swap from a 85 Silverado to get 5 lug and disc brakes....so now I am at the point of installing my motor and tranny...I was wondering what you guys used for the transmission cross member in the x frame and if anyone had pics .....also looking for some help on where the crossmember needs to be...going with 327 and a 700r4 using the 85 engine mounts on the frame...any help would be great

I saw a real simple one made with angle stock.

There is a hole pattern of 3 holes on each side of the X-member. This is where the factory auto trans crossmember bolted in.

I wonder if Captain is thinking of the 63+ frames, I don't remember seeing the bolt holes on my 62 frame either.

As far as locating where to mount it ....
My plan when I go to do mine is to secure the front of the engine block so when I remove the manual tranny and bellhousing, the engine stays located and tilted in the same location. Then I was going to bolt up my auto tranny to the engine. Then I'll know where the mounting location of the tranny crossmember needs to be.

Nope, it is on the '60-'62 frames. It is also mentioned in post #15 or the thread you linked below. I'll have to see if I can get a pic and post it.
