Welcome to the forum
That looks like a fairly nice truck to build. Post some more pics when you can.

Re: 1964 C10 build
John, you sent me some info on various brackets. I will decide today what I need and let you know. Excited about this build. Normally I build something just for speed, but this will be a cruiser I can put my wife in to go cross country if we want.

Re: 1964 C10 build
Will be getting the 5.3 back together this week, and hopefully in the truck this weekend.
I have to go to the steel supply house and get some tubing to make the rear cross member. |

Re: 1964 C10 build
I put the engine in temp to see how every thing will line up.
Other than bolting it in, nothing else will work. exh manifolds hit the enging mount stands, really need to move it forward another 2-3 inches, and the AC bracket is going to hit my Dirty Dingo adapter plates. Will have to cut those.

Re: 1964 C10 build
On the exhaust, not sure if Car manifolds will clear the stand, or if I need headers. Really dont want to buy headers though.

Re: 1964 C10 build
I'm not sure if they will clear those engine mount brackets, but a lot of guys use the Trailblazer SS manifolds. The '73 and up C20/30 engine mount brackets might clear those manifolds better, plus they will move the engine forward some.

Re: 1964 C10 build
So I think I corrected my engine mount/ ext manifold clearence problem. I shortened and changed the angle on the top part of the mount. Then mounted it under the frame instead of over. I still might have to get diff manifolds or headers, but at least they will all clear now.

Re: 1964 C10 build
Did a little on the truck before family got here. Went buy the steel yard, and bought some scraps. Spent $2.75 and built my trans crossmember
Will finish welding it up tomorrow, but I think it looks great.

Thanks about the build. Just scrubbing/blasting and painting one piece at a time. Hopefully I'll get to drive the mess out of it one day. I'm in Royce City, (east side of Rockwall) If you are ever in the area, stop in and chat! ...Oh, and as far as headers go, the TBSS headers work really well for the 67-72. Not sure about the 64 frame.

Re: 1964 C10 build
Well the x member was pretty simple. The sides are angle iron, and the rest is 1 1/2 sqaure tubing. Very strong. On the angle, I set my eng and trans in place, and then determined the angle of the engine. My engine is set at 4.5 degrees. That matches the pinion angle.
Oh btw. if you ever need any powdercoating done, my Uncle owns Prefered Coatings in Rowlett. Super quality work. Call and ask for Chad or Corey. Tell them Michael sent ya My frame and all the suspension will be going there during the holidays.

Re: 1964 C10 build
Well, I had to have surgery on Friday so won't be greeting much done on the truck. That sux too, I was going to be off for 10 days at Christmas.
I did get some fuel system parts in. Maybe I can get the tank mounted. Will do all I can.

Sorry to hear that. I hope all is well. It sounds like this was an unexpected procedure?
