Factory New 1964 Lambrecht Chevrolet C15 (1/2 ton Fleetside) 4.6 Actual Miles

Well I found this ad on eBay today for one of the Lambrecht 64 Chevy pickups. Not mine and I know nothing about the truck after it sold last year at the sale in Pierce, Nebraska.

My observation of the truck now as pictured in the ad is that the complete historic value was lost with a full frame up restoration. Even the 4.6 mile original exhaust system looks replaced. And wheels painted incorrect. Sorry if this is a members truck but in my opinion, not my idea of factory fresh 50 year old survivor truck. I can't remember which Lambrecht truck this was off hand but my thoughts are it isn't worth now what the restoration costs on top of the purchase price. Nice looking 64 base model longbox now. Heck all of them have no miles after frame up restoration.

Tailgate chain and lanyards painted, mirror base painted black and mirror head was replaced. Repopped chrome 1966 hubcaps not quite correct for the model. Well I guess I better keep my mind on my own vehicles.

And at least there is yet another old classic Chevy original maybe out on the road once again and was not crushed.

I agree...... A mechanical clean up and a shine would have retained the historical value....

Hmm.. If you started with a Lambrecht truck for your restoration project, then you started with the best reference material there could ever be to do a 100% accurate restoration. Frankly, in my opinion, you'd pretty much have to commit to nailing it 100% before even thinking about starting in on such a truck.
Well.. at first glance, those center stud repop mirrors just make me want to puke. Then the white wheels. And blue paint in the hood nostrils. Black repop chain covers. Really? Ok, I should stop.

I am always immediately turned off by any ebay ad that has 3 pictures, a tiny blurb about the truck, and a 20,000 word explanation of the Lambrecht story that everybody already knows. I also noticed the incorrect stuff too, but out of respect to the seller, I'll stop.

I would not have frame-off'd that truck. They are only original ONCE.

wow what an interesting combination of correct, and incorrect parts...
seeing that they started with an exact correct original truck, it is sad to see the restoration bungled like this....
one has to wonder why? I understand restoring for yourself, but why build it wrong, and then try to pass it off as an original?

btw aren't these sill plates supposed to have a bowtie in the center?
what kind of repop/where are these from?

Those can be purchased from LMC. I think they are like $10 cheaper than the ones with bowties on them.

that pretty much sums up that whole build... wants 83k, and didn't feel the need to pony up $10 extra for the correct parts

I feel like the picture of the engine bay/battery is enough to make me question the quality of all the work alone. Leaving aside that cheap repop parts were used, when the battery was put on they didn't even put the terminals on all the way? Just make them touch and call it good enough I guess...

True. All-out bashing threads suck. However, this subject truck is one of the "holy grail" of originality Lambrecht trucks. The whole world was watching and those ten or so "new" trucks stole the show there in Nebraska.
I gotta say the builder here has more guts than me for being willing to dig into one of them, but fer cryin out loud, please use NOS parts!

Not close. I thought I was on the Chevelle forum.

Somehow after reading a lot of posts here the last month or so, I thought this place was immune.

Guy probably wayyyyyy overpaid for the truck since it had such low miles only to get it home and find out that all those decades of sitting in the weather had not been kind to the old girl. He looks like he has tried to salvage it best he can. Gotta admit she PURDY.

We should start a thread where a member submits his truck for scrutiny. An invitation for other members to really get into the details judging what don't like about it. You know degrade the project till the owner simply would want to sell it at a loss.

I'll go first! LMAO

Re: Factory New 1964 Lambrecht Chevrolet C15 (1/2 ton Fleetside) 4.6 Actual Miles

After being on this site now for several years, I see everyone has a different interpretation of how these trucks should look. We do have to respect that. I learned so much from the Lambrecht trucks that I just do not understand this, but I guess its his truck. A canvas like this one would be perfect for a VCCA or AACA restored truck . This particular truck had enough paint left it should have been left alone, IMO. After all of these sold that morning I tried to talk to the new owners , most of them talked about restoration, paint etc. However this truck did have issues that really needed to be fixed ? So what do you suggest , fix the issues or leave them alone ?
