283 Throttle linkage hook up issues
I had to undo my throttle linkage this weekend for easier access to to replumb the oil pressure line. I undid it and i would think it just reclips back in on both ends right? I got new clips the wont hold. I think there is a little ring that locks them in but the guy at the parts store says no. Both old clip flew off and i only found one with no clip. I have googled pictures and nothing looks like my set up I have found.
After 2 hours of fooling with it in 24 degrees and snow I said forget it and went in. Am I doing something worng? I'm the typical paint and body guy that cant turn a wrench sometimes i feel like. Anybody have pictures with the same set up or can tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Re: 283 Throttle linkage hook up issues
I don't have any pictures but will try to explain.
The long part of the clip snaps over the linkage rod, there is a friction fit so it won't fall off. The end with the 2 holes on it go over the linkage from the carb with the linkage rod thru the middle of it. Put the clip around the carb linkage, then put the linkage rod thru that , then snap the long part of clip onto the rod. Depending what fits better you may have to snap the clip from the under side onto the rod. Hope this makes sense. It is one of those things that are hard to explain. |

Re: 283 Throttle linkage hook up issues
try again guys... he has the wrong clip..... OK Revelation the clip you have in the pic is wrong...those clips are made left and right you just have the wrong one the clip you have a pic of is a lets say a right and you need a left hope that make sense ..... they look the same but they are a mirror image of each other... if the rod was going forward it would work... go back to the parts store and tell them you need the reverse of that clip .... the link above shows the same clip you have but you can see how they work

Thanks for the help guys it's amazing how simple things are when you have a clear head. Careful observation and 3 minutes I was back in business.
