headlamp bulbs don't last long
We've got an 03 Tahoe and are replacing headlamp bulbs way too often. We are using Sylvania bulbs and we are having to replace one side or the other about every 5 months. No other light problems. Any ideas what would cause the rapid failure rate?
I use the same brand bulbs in my 2000 GMC and do not have this problem.

Re: headlamp bulbs don't last long
Humidity inside the headlamp assy? Alternator charging too high? Vibration due to loose headlamp assy?
Just my 2 cents. Good luck. |

Moisture intrusion would be my guess as well. Make sure you do not touch the bulb itself too, I always put on a pair of nitrate gloves to prevent oils from the skin messing it up.

Re: headlamp bulbs don't last long
I have not noticed moisture accumulation inside the lamps and I am aware of the clean touch issue. Alternator output looks to be normal. These headlight bulbs are the only ones with the shortened life. I might look at the ground wires.
