Engine mount question.
Installing a 5.3 in my '62 C10....truck has a 1978 c10 front end. It was set-up for an Oldsmobile engine when I bought it and had an olds engine under the hood. I have a set of Dirty Dingo plates bolted to the 5.3. The existing motor mount bases are new. The Olds mount will not bolt to the Dingo plates...Do I use a 3 bolt set for a 350 chevy? Anyone got a part number or good supplier (cheap).. Thanks here's a picture or 2 |

Re: Engine mount question.
Remove the olds mount , & top bracket but leave the stands in place. You can then opt for the clamshell mount & a set of block brackets from a 78 truck...along with the sliders, it should all bolt up longhorn

Re: Engine mount question.
Here's what I did:
Removed the loss mounts for the block and got Some 3 bolt chevy (69 Camaro maybe) and it looks Like it should all bolt up. Any advise on engine position on the dirty dingo's? Looks like these have 2 forward positions and 2 rear positions...I was Thinking as far forward as possible but I am using stock fan belt driven. Anyone have experience on position? Thanks |

Re: Engine mount question.
I would opt to hang the engine/trans in place, then see where the mounts need to bolt? You may also find that the Olds (steel bracket on top), may be different in height/spacing, than a chevy pc? If the mounts set onto the brackets & bolt through, but the spacing is off,you might opt to unbolt the brackets on the towers, & move them around a tad (just center & bubble level on the engine). You can then redrill the holes, or weld them down ? longhorn
