Mirror location measurement

My truck came with a pair of poorly mounted late model design aftermarket mirrors. I purchased a pair of correct aftermarket mirrors from LMC, but before I invest in rivet nuts and the tool required to install them, I'm not absolutely sure that the original mounting holes aren't there, covered by a layer of filler.

Before I start randomly drilling holes, what should I expect? I'll poke through my shop manuals, but so far I've been a bit disappointed with both the '63 manual and the '65 supplemental for stuff like this. I know from other pictures approximately where the mirror would be mounted, but can someone give me a measurement from the door edge? Thanks.

Sorry only have 60-63. If you take your inner door panels off you'll see the plates up in the corner.

yes, take off the inner for exact location.

I had to ballpark things a bit, because of the differences in the doors between the years, but I think it came out okay.





I will probably end up sticking on some blind spot mirrors when it gets a bit warmer out. But between these and reinstalling the inside mirror, I'm not blind out the back anymore.

Jimal--where did you get your grab handles? how are they attached? I put the same mirrors on mine, does yours vibrate while driving?

The handles were on the truck when I bought it. I haven't driven the truck yet, so I don't know whether the mirrors are going to shake.
