Help with Bagging the Back
i am thinking about putting bags in the rear only. I am going to use this truck for towing my car trailer . i don't want a compressor just want to fill the bags when towing and deflate to a smoother ride when i am not any suggestions what type bags or is there a kit available ? its a 71 1/2 ton SWB stepside thanks

Sounds like your looking for bags with schrader valves. It will allow you to do exactly what your looking for and fairly cheep. As far as bags I would imagine one with a good rating for weight and quality.

If your truck isn't lowered you can buy Air lift or Firestone bags. They are sold as auxiliary springs and insert inside the coils. they provide a lines and valves to mount at the rear bumper area.
My project has a 4/6 drop, which is too close for comfort w/o a notched frame for me. I want to tow and haul and definitely don't want to hack a good frame, so I'll be installing bags that replace the coils. I like the leveled look of a 4/6 drop, but also like trucks with some rake. rake was the rage in this era and my truck's them is era correct. With the bags I can have it both ways

Just curious, why no on-board compressor? I put a relatively inexpensive Air Ride system with a small compressor in mine years ago and haven't had the first problem with it. The compressor can be held in one hand, and with the touch of a button the ride height of the rear end can be modified to compensate for load/no-load. The bags replaced the coils altogether, but I did retain the over load springs as an emergency measure to get off the road should the bag system fail. I don't think adding the compressor is any more troublesome than having to manually inflate/deflate a system, and the truck "rides on air" all the time.

If you have rear coils, I highly recommend the Firestone or Air-Lift Company bags that go inside the coils. I have used them extensively with my hauler. I kept a small air compressor behind the seat and inflated when needed, and let them down to minimum, otherwise. I probably logged 20k miles and hauled dozens of cars with them.
