700r4 TV cable issue
Anyone have any good recommendations for a 700r4 TV cable. I installed a B & M cable specifically designed for GM 700r4 transmissions, but the cable binds and wont get to Wide Open Throttle, no matter how I adjust it. Think the length of the cable is too short.

Re: 700r4 TV cable issue
You may have a throttle lever issue. There is a kit to install the cable stud in the correct radius, for some carbs. It sounds like your stud needs to move closer to the throttle shaft. This will match the throw of the lever to the range of motion available from the cable.

Re: 700r4 TV cable issue
I can't see the cable being too different of a length. Small block or big block, the distance between the connections can only be about an inch difference. I'd recommend looking at the tv made ez kit from bowtie overdrives. I used their stuff with zero hassle, I have free movement from idle to WOT.

Re: 700r4 TV cable issue
Depending on what carb you have , you must get the appropriate tv bracket that bolts to the throttle plate on your carb , a bracket for the tv cable , and a stock tv cable works fine from a gran national . Summit has these parts , the cable must be fully out went the carb is at WOT .
Bowtie overdrive makes great products allso must read http://www.monstertransmission.com/7...ons_ep_62.html some links to ponder http://www.phoenixtrans.com/faqs/

Re: 700r4 TV cable issue
I had some issues with my 700R4 cable in the past. Someone stole the carb and broke the old cable instead of cutting or removing. I found a universal adjustable cable from TCI. I installed it through a couple of cable eyes that bolt to the bell housing just to guide it from the headers. One note on the universal cable, you do not use the stock cable seal with this cable. It has an O-ring.
Made a bracket from one I found. It had throttle cable and TV cable holes. I cut the throttle cable part off. Then put the TV cable in and adjusted it properly. I then set up a switch to enable/disable the converter lock. It worked well but was a pain to lock unlock it and remembering when to do that. Next step was an adjustable N.O. vacuum switch to do this for me. Then it would search and go in and out of lock. I built a simple circuit to delay from 3-10 seconds depending on the setting. I landed on 5. It now works great. Sorry I don't have better pictures but if you'd like and think they would help I can get under the hood and take some. Best of luck

Re: 700r4 TV cable issue
There are at least 2 different lengths of TV cable for 700R4. The carbureted ones are 1 length, the Tuned-Port ones are another. Not sure about TBI, probably same as a carb.

Re: 700r4 TV cable issue
Thanks to everyone for their input. Happy to report that after following the directions from the post above from no1udknow, I finally got to WOT!!! On a completely separate note, just ordered new exhaust manifolds from Classic Industries today. As soon as they come in, they are going on along with the new Magnaflow dual exhaust - Merry Christmas to me!!
