Not a lot of MD, DC, VA guys here???

I noticed that there isn't a big crowd from the DMV area. I need some locals, just in case I run into a bind with my truck, lol

I'm here...extreme north western Loudoun County native. Living in New Mexcio for a few years to be close to my wife's family while the kids are young and still coming. Then we plan to return to there at some point. My dad still lives In Loudoun a few miles from the wv line on top the blue ridge. He's got a '72 k20.

I picked up my truck not too far from Bowling Green. And that's where my dad stays who has a 69 stepper he's in the midst of rebuilding.

There are a whole bunch of members from this area. You just haven't been here long enough to see. You should check into the N/E section of the "Regions" board. On Thanksgiving a bunch of us (not me this time) went to The Pie Run in Deale

If there are so many of us, we should start posting here more often, since we could probably get together and not have to drive as far. Just an idea.

We do, and the place to look is in the N/E regions message board, where things like this are posted. This is the message board for 67-72 10-30 related topics. Again, I see some of you have only been here a month or so. Take some time and look around, we're here. in the N/E Regional board you will see that Marylanders post more than any other states in the region. unfortunately, we are separated from our neighbors in VA and WVA (I think WVA). We really aren't in the N/E but they only divided it into quarters and a line had to be drawn somewhere. So, check the S/E board, too. The VA guys have get togethers, too.

Fair enough. I've been on plenty of forums since 1998 so I might be new here but they're all the same. Powered by vBulletin®

Yeah, it's nice that so many sites use this same format. I'm not so computerish, so it really helps. What I meant by my post was being "here" only a short time doesn't allow a chance to be so familiar with who posts how much or to get a feel for just how many people are from any given area. Of other V-bulletin sites I visit, this one is branched out into far more categories than the rest. Some only post in a few and some only one. I have made many local friends off this site and I rarely see them post. Some only look at the parts. You will find others in any given MB, but if it's local topic or just looking to meet locals, you most direct route is visiting the "Regions/NE" area. Although, these areas tend to see lower traffic. But, that's because people want to post everything here, 67-72 related or not, I guess because that's how they found the site.

I tried starting a tradition of getting together the Sunday before the 4th of July at my place. There is a well attended local NSRA show not 5 minutes from my house (Liberty rods), so you'd think that would double the reason to roll out this way. The plan was to meet there earlier, then motivate over to my place for a cookout. The first year we had 20 or so come. It went well. But, each year there were less, till only one member came and hung out with me & my girlfriend. People in this area seem different than others where it seems much easier to get people to gather. I guess it's busy street, I dunno. Most seem to only be focused more on attending shows/events, which is cool, and we bump into each other, chat a bit, then go our ways. Sit down, eat food, (maybe) a drink beer (or 2), and tell lies is what it's all about for me. Heck, drink ten and pitch a tent! Anyone can go to a show, but we'd get a lot tighter with a get-together. Probably the most members gathered on the most regular basis has been at Carlisle Trucks at my spots. I now share it with another member (Olblue60@aol.com/MD) and my good buddy (Liftmeup/PA) is a couple spaces down. I've had Msgross/PA share a spot before, too. i get to see members from NH to IN and farther. At times you'll see more people at my spots than across the row at THE truck Shop/CA. Other great friends and fellow members have spaces across the show. I don't want to leave anyone out, but there's Jimer64/PA and his brother gtomech/PA and friends. The whole bunch of us have started a tradition of grabbing a civilized meal at a decent restaurant on Friday night, after grubbing around the swap meet a couple days. In Deale,MD were have gathered for the VFD oyster roasts at the beginning (Nov) and end (March) of the season. The VFD is right behind Duallyjams' place and Tommyboy is two doors down. I've been here 10 years now and many members have come and gone. Many still here but posting less and some still going strong. some never did post much. Once you make a connection all that is irrelevant. This site has made me many local friends that I talk to off the site than on. But, it all started here. We need to get a get-together going and the Regions area is where to start. I'll give it another shot and see how much interest I get. Watch in the N/E Regions board for a thread after the first of the year.
