Can it be done: 03 cobra IRS on 63-66 C10

Wondering if anyone out there can give me an idea of if I could pull off putting an 03/04 mustang cobra IRS on my 63 C10. Of course bracketry will have to be constructed but I'd like to know if anyone has done it. I've searched google a number of times for any pics of someone that's done it but to no avail. I had heard that Rob at nolimitengineering had done it on something but I don't want to bother him until I'm buying his front wideride setup. thanks for any help.

Look at Trucks! on powerblock, they put that rear under a Ranger. It will be the same fab work.

A easier swap http://team321.com/truckirs/truckirs.html the thunderbird irs is cheaper to buy and the cobra irs is based off it.The cobra used a irs 99-04.

Width-wise, the IRS will work (62"). But a VERY custom set of mounts would have to be fabricated & really I wouldn't use the cobra subframe at all... You would need to fabricate a structure that fit the existing truck frame. It would be labor intensive but is very doable.

I'd stay away from the t-bird and the 99-01 IRS's. They are much weaker than the 03/04 cobra IRS which are equipped with 31 spline beefier stub-axles, heavier duty control arms, thicker swaybar & bigger brakes. Still lots of room for improvement on them too though. I did a billet flow differential brace & a full set of delrin bushings & mounts on the one under my '93 Mustang to stop the axle killing wheel hop, which worked, but wasn't cheap or easy to install. I think the corvette IRS is more readily available and has the Chevy car bolt pattern at least. Just my .02

No, there just cheaper and more readily available. Any IRS into an American pickup is going to be CUSTOM.

Flat Out Engineering might have the closest thing available to a Vatte IRS install kit.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

I wonder whether the rear end out of an Exploder (02 or up, and then they changed things in 06) might be a reasonable swap. There's something to be said for using parts off something a little heavier than a passenger car if you want to use your truck as a truck.

I know I'm not being a real help, but why cobra? Its ford now that I got to that guy, I agree with the above, do a vette irs, its easier to find wheels in both 5x4 3/4 and 5x5 than 5x5 and 5x4 1/2 and may or may not be easier to upgrade.
