front drive shaft
Hello to all,
I am needing to change my front drive shaft u-joints and can not get to the strap bolts near the front of the transfer case. I have taken the bolts out of the plate on the front of the transfer case hoping it would slide out but no luck. Any Advice would be appreciated, Four Speed transmission, 205 transfer case. Thanks Wally

hmm...when I changed the ujoints on my front driveshaft, those bolts were a real PITA. I have the Rockwell transfer case so it may be different, but the easiest way I found to do it was with 2 ppl. I would lay behind the transfer, then stick my arms up in by the transfer case, then have my dad put the wrench on the bolt from the front side, and then put the handle in my hand and I would loosen it. Since I couldnt see the bolt or the wrench, he would also make sure i was spinning the right way and did not drop the wrench into the crossmember. It still took a long time to do, but it was the only way. hope this can help a little.

I've found it's worth the time to pull the tranny cover off, from inside the cab. That way you can see what your doing
