Latching the tailgate
I need to add a latch mechanism for the tail gate on my '57 stepside. Right now, the original eyes are still on the box but there is just a slot in the side of the endgate. I don't recall what was there before. Not sure if I want to go to the chains or something else. Any and all suggestions (preferably with pics) appreciated.

Re: Latching the tailgate
On my Fleetside I used the CCP inside latch and Ford cables (length was right and available off the shelf at Oriellys). The latch is easy, couple of drilled holes. It is set up for a step side, on the Fleet you need to make a strike to get it flush with the tail gate. Installing the cables requires filling, cutting and welding on the gate and bed sides, but once its done the cable tuck between the tailgate and bed end out of sight when closed. here are a few pics, details are in my build thread around 11/11 date.
