Horn Help
I have been searching through the forum for horn help but have not found exactly what I'm looking for, so here goes.
I have a 72 c10, and the PO must have had a vendetta against horns, because there is nothing left of it. I have the wiring diagrams, so I understand most of it, and see how the relay is hooked up and everything, and there is a ground that goes to the base of the steering column. From there, I don't really understand the wiring. How does the ground wire get up to the steering wheel? How does the contact ring ground the circuit when the horn is pressed, and set off the alarm? I'm using the grant install kit, and by contact ring I mean the piece that the plunger is wired to, that is inserted into the horn cap.

Re: Horn Help
Here is a thread with some pics I posted showing how the horn contact guts install in the canceling cam: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=635166
It does not answer all your questions, but maybe can help.

Re: Horn Help
So the horn contact is what connects down to the relay? And then the cancelling cam sits on the contact. That makes sense. So does this mean the steering column itself is ground to the chassis somewhere? Otherwise how would pushing the horn ground the circuit?

Re: Horn Help
Yup, the steering column is grounded.

Re: Horn Help
Ohhh got it. So the ground path is relay to horn contact, to canceling cam. Then when the button is pressed, this grounds the path through the steering column. So, then what is the plunger that is connected by a wire to the contact ring for?
