Vented gas cap for 1972
Does anyone know of a vented gas cap that will fit the smaller gas tank neck of the 71-72 years?
I did away with the evaporated emission system on my build, used an early model gas tank sending unit that only had the one tube, only to find out the stock vented gas cap from the earlier models don't fit the smaller later model necks. I did a search on here but nothing popped up..

Re: Vented gas cap for 1972
I vented my 71 cap by drilling out the check valve on the inside of the cap. Thought it was a great idea till I took a hard right turn.

Re: Vented gas cap for 1972
I am going to install a later style canister and use a non vented cap. BTW the new NAPA non vented cap lasted one year before the seal split in half ? Overseas crap rubber again

Re: Vented gas cap for 1972
I always just dumped the cannisters and left the tubing there to vent the tank
worked well with no problems at all for 25years or so

Re: Vented gas cap for 1972
Can You run a vent line back to the air filter? Mine is working fine with a fuel filter on the vent until I fill it up with gas then it blows a bit out the filter kinda like the venting system on a boat. I was thinking of running a vent line up to the intake on the air filter. This would leave a bit more volume for fuel to occupy before the pump shuts off at full and give the fumes from the tank to the engine for reburn. Thoughts?
