Carpet vinyl or rubber floor
I am getting ready to order flooring and was looking for some opinions on it. Im leaning more towards a rubber floor but saw on brothers that they also offer a vinyl floor. Anyone use this? Ive read numerous threads on here about bad quality rubber floors from LMC and the like but im pretty sure everything made now is china crap so to me its kinda a mute point. Anyways post some pics up if you want and tell me how you liked it.

Re: Carpet vinyl or rubber floor
I put a LMC mat in my truck when I redid the interior 2 years ago, and it is so far holding up fine. Been through a few cold/hot seasonal cycles here in the NE and it cleans up nicely and does not show undue wear or any cracking etc.
IMO the wear you get out of a floormat will greatly depend on what is underneath it. If you lay it right over metal or fatmat, it'll wear faster owing to irregularities in the metal underneath. If you do your soundproofing right (also IMO) and put a layer of MLV and then foam under it, the mat should last a lot longer (and you'll have a quieter truck). |

Re: Carpet vinyl or rubber floor
Eli, I just finished putting an LMC carpet kit in my 70' C20. PO had a vinyl mat installed and it was getting kind of ratty. The install went very smooth and the pre-molded LMC kit seemed to fit nicely. I also laid down some sound/heat barrier underneath the carpet. Interior is much quieter now. The one suggestion I would highly recommend is to use a soldering iron on any holes in the carpet. The iron will "cauterize" the surrounding carpet fibers and help prevent runs in the carpet when you go to insert bolts/screws.

Cold cut that looks really nice. And I've done wht you suggested before I heat up a punch and use that to make my holes in carpet. It work extremely well and makes a nice hole.

I've had a LMC vinyl mat for 5 years now, I can't find anything wrong with it. Easy to live with easy to clean and really tuff.
