Re: Hidden antenna?
I have used a couple, the scosche windshield mount, the dakota digital. Metra made a fiberglass one for a while. mounting those under steel like in the dashboard does not work very well but mounting them to the inside of a windshield or rear window does work really well. pretty directional though, driving towards the station was better than away. thats what you get with a standard 1/4 aerial, is a spike that sits higher than the roof and a nice flat plane of hood to bounce on.
I dont have pics though, sorry.

Re: Hidden antenna?
I have seen people mount a regular antenna mounted sideways under the cowl.

Re: Hidden antenna?
I bought a tape antenna. (it came with a crimped connection at the radio plug and I soldered it....probably not necessary but stronger/piece of mind)
Ran the cable out the radio back, over the glove box and out from under the right side of the dash, tucked into the corner near the dash/door weatherstrip and the tape is run up under the windshield gasket on the Passenger side A piller. Visible but not noticeable. Totally reversible. No drilling or hacking a good truck. Works fine |

Pretty much self explanatory....plug in, route, peel and stick. The antenna black box is just below the bottom edge of the windshield and the tape is 3/4 hidden under the vertical portion of the windshield gasket. Amazon.com: NEW Am-Fm Hidden Windshield Antenna... |

Re: Hidden antenna?
This one really isn't hidden. I'm just thinking outside the box a little. This type of shark fin antenna might look cool, then again might look like shhhhh. Since they refer to our trucks as aero design it might fit in like a tailfin on the roof. I don't know how well these would function either, just food for thought.
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Re: Hidden antenna?
My DD didn't have an antenna and I couldn't get any stations. I bought a power antenna from Advanced Auto that had double sided tape. I mounted it above the rear view mirror and ran the wires down the A-pillar under the trim. It was $24 and works great but I'm not sure if it would be as easy to hide the wires on a c10. Maybe if you mounted it against the dash. Only issue I've had is in the hot sun the tape has come unglued. I'd come out and find the antenna hanging.

Re: Hidden antenna?
My pioneer deck picks up most stations with just the antenna wire curled up under the metal dash. Aftermarket decks are usually better about signal, and mine works to about ~100 miles from a major city. Fine for traffic weather etc. My actual music all comes off the music device in the glovebox.

Re: Hidden antenna?
Hey guys, just thought I'd leave some feedback. I installed TT2C-2 antenna from tunetrapper.com today and I am very impressed with it. Works better than the original and I was able to tuck it under the glove box.

Re: Hidden antenna?
I have one of those "hide-away" antennas under the dash of my 69 Camaro and it works great. I shaved the antenna hole so that is what I used. Been thinking about doing it on my 66 C-10 as well.

Re: Hidden antenna?
What also works. 12 gauge house solid copper wire. Just put an s bend in the part that goes into the radio and run the wire where you want. Mine hangs off of the rear view mirror right now as I just wanted to know if it worked or not but I am going to run in under the mat and to the back of the cab up one side. So far the best antenna I have ever not paid for..

Re: Hidden antenna?
S-Bend, 12 gauge house wire? I may try that when the time comes.
