1986 Chevy Wrangler ?
Hi all went to see a 1986 Chevy wrangle 3/4 ton , 350 ,700R4 tranny AC and tilt, body is very good, frame looks good from what i can see . My question is did these trucks come with different variations of grilles and hoods depending on 1/2 or 3/4 ton.? doing some research and im getting different images of different grilles and hoods . So im not clear if the truck i looked at has had hood and/or grille changed . Any help appreciated.

Re: 1986 Chevy Wrangler ?
Nope.
The truck you pictured has the base level grille, just like the regular production vehicles. K

Re: 1986 Chevy Wrangler ?
Check the frame for any cracking around the steering box, cracks on the frame rails each side of the front crossmember both sides, check the frame behind the back of the cab they can distrort if the truck is used heavily, rust on the frame behind the leaf spring hanger brackets, front cab mounts, cab corners, rockers, rusty wheelwells and box corners, rotten inner and outer front fenders, leaking winshields or side vents rusty floors below cab vents, most of the transfer cases that have been used hard have stretched chains. good bench seats are getting harder to find. 700R's will start to slip in 3/4 clutch pack first when they begin to show signs of death. That is typically what I look for.
But these are 30 year old trucks. |
