454 into my 67
I have a question, I am putting a bbc in my 67 that had a SBC originally. I mounted the big block but the exhaust manifolds will not sit between the head and the frame. Since I took the xmember from my 70's 454 truck I tried those mounts and brackets, they will not line up at all now... What do I need to do to make this work? I figure one of my existing sets of mounts should work??

Re: 454 into my 67
What motor mounts and towers did you use? And which manifolds. Did you get the front end components from a mid 70shalf ton? Heavy half? 3/4 ton?

Re: 454 into my 67
Everything is from a stock mid seventies half ton with a big block, I think all I can do is mount the lower brackets and set the engine in and level and center it and re drill holes for the mounts...

Re: 454 into my 67
Get a set of 68-72 BBC motor towers. There should be some listed on the parts board. And are trying to mount manifolds or headers?

Re: 454 into my 67
The flanges of the frame are wider on '67 models. The width was made thinner for exhaust clearance in '68 on when the BBC was available. You will have to trim the frame. I took measurements some time ago but don't remember how much it was I think like 3/8" I will look for that old thread..

Re: 454 into my 67
if you measure the frame top flange width of the '67 you will see it is 2.5" where the '68 up trucks are 1.8" (approx.). I cant find the thread showing it at the moment as I keep getting search errors. I would use the correct BBC motor stands and trim the frame for a proper factory fit.
