1956 4x4 hubcaps mounting question.

So I picked up a pair of hubcaps for a 66 3/4t the other day that are factory originals. Iv seen how they mount but am wondering if I can buy the wheel clips and mount them on my 16.5 rims. has anyone modified a rim befor to fit these hubcaps. The factory steel rims I'm using are off a 70's truck I believe. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for trying to keep '66 hubcaps on a '66. The key thing is the clips and the 8 3/4" hubcaps. You need the longer clips off a period 8 lug 3/4 ton wheel. The clips sold today are for 50's cars or 1/2 ton pickups, they are too short. Then, they need to be mounted in the correct location. I'm experimenting with a late model Ford Econoline wheel and a 8 3/4" back opening hubcap. I'm still looking for factory type rivits to permanently and solidly mount clips to wheel, I do not fell comfortable with the screw method.

-Factorystock thank you. That is exactly what I am looking for. I may try using 2 10-32 screws in a row to install them and just run red thread locker. I'm hoping these hubcaps are really on there due to the fact that this is a 4x4 and I fully intend on having it as a trail rig. No crazy tube guards. Just close to factory. Gotta keep this old steel rollin.

i posted this pic before but these are late model ford 16 inch wheels that i modified to make these caps work, i took some harley push rods cut in 1 1/2 inch sections (heated and bent to match raduis of hubcap before cutting) and used some wheel spokes cut and bent to match sections to space off of rim then welded to rim,didnt take pic of how it looks without hubcap but you can see other wheel that i was prepping,caps snap on pretty tight

-rickywideglide I like the idea of using push rods to make a snap on deal Sounds pretty trick. Do u know the OD of the pushrods? Compared to small bock rods? I have plenty of those laying around. Perhaps just pieces of cold role steel cut into the right lengths would work also.
