Dumb Question

Almost embarassed to ask, but I gotta. My nephew was playing in my truck and pushed the brake pedal a bunch of times. The problem is I am putting a complete new front suspension in and I cant get my calipers to fit over the front disc now that everything is back in. How do I relieve the pressure to get the calipers to go back in. I am pretty sure I just bleed them, but I want to make sure. Oh yea, I have manual brakes so that may help anyone who helps me out with an answer. Thanks for the help. I have been working on this new suspension (front/back)for about one month and almost done, this is the only thing holding me from being done.

Thanks,

Rusty

Your going to need a C-clamp. The calipers are compressed to tight, and need to be spread back out. It's not a big deal, but I don't think you will ever do it by hand. Get a big C-clamp, and squeeze them back where they belong.

Go slow, or your fluid will puke out of the reservoir...

try to get caliper tool this instead of using a clamp, a clamp wont do this evenly, you risk clocking(?) the piston sideways and messing up the seals then you wil need new calipers, but they may go bad anyways if the truck was sitting for along time not driven, rust in the bore of the calipers will rip the seals anwyays after a day or two of driving and then your front brakes will drag and make rotors get real hot and may warp them, i would probably go get new calipers now first
