A/C removal
I've got a 75 blazer with factory A/C. None of it works. The compressor doesn't kick on and I'd guess it has leaks in the system. I'm interested in restoring it some day but not at the moment. For now can I just remove the compressor and pressure lines? Does that create any risk to the parts that I leave on the truck?

Re: A/C removal
Why remove it? It' not hurting anything.
If you open it up, you risk getting contamination in any parts that may be good. You would have to cap the openings. but there really isn't any reason to remove them unless the compressor is locked up or locked on creating a major drag on the belts.

Re: A/C removal
I guess I'd like to remove the unnecessary equipment to give me room to work on the engine and clean up under the hood. The compressor doesn't work and all the a/c wiring is messed up and cut up also. I was just aiming to clean things up.

Re: A/C removal
It's not exactly unnecessary equipment.
Almost every truck I have bought was missing the compressor, brackets and lines. Stupidest thing previous owners always seem to do. Pisses me off. It's your truck though. You will contaminate everything in the system.
