spark plug wires
I have a 1968 chevy k 20 with a 350 and HEI ignition. I need to replace the plug wires, but don't want to mess around fitting and assembling them. I have the stock ram horn manifolds on. Does anyone know of an aftermarket set made for this HEI conversion or something that works great. I haven't had much luck with the sets I have used in the past. Thanks

Re: spark plug wires
plug wires from a 1975 and newer corvette with HEI will fit because they went down along side of the block.

Re: spark plug wires
'75 Corvette wires. HEI with rams horns route the same way as the OEM truck wires did below the manifolds.

Re: spark plug wires
I bought a set of Taylor wires from Summit, about $60 and routed fine. Lots of options for color and boot angles.

Re: spark plug wires
I use wires for a 1975 454, they have straight boots and I go over the top of the ramhorns. Standard #6810. If you're not familiar with Standard, it is a brand that my local parts store has been selling for years. I believe the company name is Standard Motor Products. Here are a couple of pics of my C10 engine, I also use these wires on the K10 in my avatar.

Re: spark plug wires
Restoration places like Classic Industries or LMC should have them. But run the plug wires underneath like they were originally and you are less likely to have any troubles.

Re: spark plug wires
Another vote for Taylor wires, give them a call they'll tell you what you need. They even told me where to order to get a better price!

Re: spark plug wires
with headers that close to the block, recommend going over the valve cover and not under the header. Not as clean as the factory look, but you're likely to burn #1/#3 in the above pic. There are several companies that sell a bracket that runs along the outer edge/lip of the valve cover - that'd work pretty well in this situation. I'm not a fan of the look of aftermarket looms/brackets, but sometimes they serve a purpose. Rams horns, I'd go under like the factory - headers, I'd go over the valve cover and keep them away from the headers as much as possible, to include angle boots.
