Re: if the wife will let me...
It must be one ton season. I bought a C30 today at the salvage sale I go to. Sometimes they have donated cars/trucks there for charities. this one benefited the Veterans Fund of America. I try to buy all of the Donated cars that have any interest to them. This one has a 400 small block and little else. It is white with blue on the inside. Mine may sell for less than you paid for yours after a clean-up I think it was and will be a deal. Jim

Re: if the wife will let me...
I didn't buy it yet Jim, trying to convince my better half that I need it.

Re: if the wife will let me...
I found it a whole lot easier to ask for forgiveness than permission .... but my wife is very easy to get along with, and red headed.....

It is a whole lot easier to do under the disguise as a used car dealer.

Re: if the wife will let me...
When I was in the Marines on recruiting duty in Arkansas, I recruited your area. West Memphis, all the way to West Helena and in between. I actually got two guys from Marianna to join

Re: if the wife will let me...
Man it must be the season of the C30's. I just made this same purchase and started down this dark road less than 30 days ago. See my thread "Meet Homer". Mine was an Open Road with a 327/TH400 with 62,000 miles. Went 5.5 hours away to get it, then cut off almost 2 tons of scrap.
Here's a few pics of what is in store if you do. It's been a roller coaster of emotions for the last 60 days going from Yahoo, look what I got, to W.T.F. was I thinking, to ok, you bought it now fix it. Yeah, that's still where I am at. Hoping to have the cab back on the shortened (took out 60 inches of length) frame by the end of the weekend. Making lemonade out of this bag of lemons.

Hey (seeings how you are the man and I'm the dreamer) seeings how that cab has a passage way in it already, how about a double-cab conversion and a 5th wheel flatbed? Some rich horsey kind of guy might pay a lot of money for something like that. Yes, I'm a "back seat fabricator". If you saw some of my welds you would be ashamed. I might need a new welder, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Last edited by mechanicalman; 02-12-2015 at 08:05 PM. |

Re: if the wife will let me...
I've been looking at homer, this one I'm looking at is shorter than homer was, and no walkthrough in the cab.
