I bought my truck 35 years ago. I reconditioned it 30 years ago (I was 31 at the time). At that time I did not have internet (Al Gore had not invented it yet) and information, parts and vendors were not that easy to come by. We depended on printed media, a few NOS vendors and our imaginations. When done the truck looked pretty good but a lot of corners had been cut.

Flash forward 30 years. The truck had sat outside for 10-15 of those years and had been sitting in the corner of the shop for 15 years. I always loved that truck so I decided to resto mod it. I surfed the net for ideas and came across this site. What a treasure trove of ideas, information on parts, information on vendors, etc. etc. All this and no contribution is required??? How many times in life do you experience that?

Because of this site, it's owners, vendors and members, my project will be a far better project than the last time. Thank you all for your help. I sent my premium membership fee in today. NHR

Yeah.....This site is great and as far a I know it has some of the best people on it. Everybody knows that owing a old truck just makes you cool..... and it stimulates the economy. It's a win win.

I have a 65 C10 that I did a resto- mod on from 1985-1988. I also still have the truck and have kept it up and continued to modify and drive it occasionally. I remember going thru Truckin magazine and others looking for mods and vendors. I did a lot of junk yard crawling back then (and had more time and less $ to do it). I am starting to resto- mod a 1966 one ton and look forward to using the info I have read on this sight too for vendors and tech. Different world these days for sure!

This is an outstanding site. It's just a bunch of hard-core truck people who care more about helping each other out than to deal with the drama that you see on nearly every other forum. There are some great people on this site.

I found this sight from web searching as well. Joined after reading a few threads. Been a wealth of info and been great to be apart of the wealth of info. Great place for ideas and to talk with other members.

This IS an outstanding site with some of the best people you could ever wish for. A word of caution though. Be prepared as a vendor to receive negative criticism. It happened to me and I had put so much faith in the forum rules that it completely took me by surprise as to how cruel some people can be. I wish these few people would have read the Buyers Code Of Conduct article VI before posting their opinions. It can kill your plans before it even has a chance to get started. All in all this forum is great and a valuable resource and I'm proud to be a supporting member. Thumbs up to all the great people here!

I'd add, watch out for bad advice too, regardless of whether or not you are a vendor. There is lots of good advice on here but some of the suggestions are in the realm of not helpful for anything but a 1/4 mile racer. Other times it just seemed to get nasty (I have been reading over a year now) A lot of the rest of it lately seems to be Show me threads....blue trucks, red trucks, green trucks, your wheels, etc. I prefer the well done how to threads better. There are plenty of color photos on google.

I keep reading but have decided to rely on my trusty old shop manuals for the bits that require wrenches and specifications.

Sorry to hear your distaste! When I found this site, people were helpful and knowledgable and if bad info is out there, it's up to the individual to figure it out but like most people on this forum, we're just trying to figure out our trucks the best way we know how and with the internet, it makes it a whole lot easier then in the old days of which I remember well. I take info given to me and research to make sure I'm getting the whole picture. Everyone likes to see pics of other trucks, me included, but don't let that discourage your quest for info. The google search at the top of the page under the 67-72 heading has been my "go to" for several years and the info from all these knowledgable people with some seriously "BadAss" rides is absolutely Outstanding!!! Search the WHOLE forum as the 60-66 section is only a minute part of the whole picture.:metal

Not distaste. Just my observation. Pretty common to all forums. Folks find it easy to misbehave or pass tall tales hidden behind a glass screen. This seems to be the most active site for the trucks so potentially the greatest of the good and bad. Particularly disorienting to many a thread are the folks who regularly threaten to quit when a conversation is not going their way....but they stick around to mess up the flow of thinking with drama on another day. In any event, a forum is a resource not a life style. So, easy to dismiss the pap.

Weird, are we reading the same forum? I seriously don't see anywhere near the amount of drama you seem to be seeing. Maybe people just need to put more smileys in their comments

it's "schooling" i can enjoy lol
i can look at work or home and never worry bout offending anyone walking by my screen,or pop ups!

Every site will have "problem children",

What manuals do you use? I've yet to see one or all combined to offer anywhere close to the guidance that can be had on this site. And what makes it better is you can ask all the questions you want. I'd like a manual that can do that.
I must have missed the thread where someone threatened to leave because things weren't going their way. If that ever happened we would just let them leave...win/win

there have been times when I got a little miffed at this site because of comments, but I have had more good experiences than bad. I love this site and if it weren't for this site I would not have purchase nine more of these trucks that I love so much. there is more info here than a single person could ever get through, so just be patient and read. after you do your first truck its a whole lot easy to the second and third and four...............well you get the gist of it.........lol

ps the search engine can be your best friend once you learn to use it, it helps cut through the crap and find what your looking for.

dude this site is awesome, in 98' i was looking through hotrod mags to find parts to much stress. i like looking through the site cuz i may find another topic i needed also, plus my inner NOS factory correctness come out due in part to this site i love it!!! the best thing about this site the "People"...

I guess some sites are not for everyone. This is my site and I belong to no other. I think it is because of real world applications, simple fixes, immensely knowledgeable actual GM mechanics from the plants these trucks were built in and just some real nice folks that like hanging out with guys who own these classic beauties.

With over 100,000 members, this site is kind of like a family gathering. Everyone has trucks in common but we may not all have the same tastes. This means that you have to handle it like an adult, if you don't agree, that's OK just don't make it an issue that spoils it for the rest of us.There's always the scroll option and that usually works better than disparaging someone else's opinion, truck or whatever. As far as vendor feedback, I've seen some pretty easy fixes and I've seen people get crossways for basically no real reason. I have never had any vendor on here fail to make a situation right as long as it was a legit complaint. In fact, just the opposite, I've had vendors give me customer service advice on parts that they knew they didn't even sell me. There's always going to be some areas of friction in a group this large but that doesn't mean we have to feed the beast. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Keep in mind that Josh started this site with little knowledge of these trucks so that he could learn more about them and shared knowledge is what made it great. Also remember that the mods are volunteers and that Josh spends loads of time keeping the site working well. He and Liz deserve a thanks for making this a great fun place to play.

for the most part this is a great forum with lot of great people, there are a couple people I do not care for but I can count them on one hand.
compared to the gun forums I used to frequent we are downright civilized

I get great advice here. I still learn stuff about these trucks even after reading way too many threads
I enjoy just about everybody, even quirky members (which is a group I'll include myself in).

So thanks to everybody. We all make it happen. The fact that I can read threads with my 11 year old without having to explain perverse situations or actions is a real bonus.

I can't edit till I can renew here, but I've wanted to add to my post#16 comments to post#8. Whenever I do Google any topic related to 67-72 GM trucks the top results always take my straight to this site. I always have to scroll down to see if I can learn something from elsewhere and the results just get watered down as I go. I don't see misinformation here. Or, when I do, it quickly gets corrected. We have the power here of combined minds. This site is the world's older model GM Truck think tank. No doubt about it. In response to post#12, I beg to differ...at least in my case. These trucks "do" actually play a part in my lifestyle, always have, and this site came along to be part of that. That is why I am on here just about every day for the last 10 years and why I have a ridiculous post count. These trucks are part of what I live for and this site is part of that. When I started seeing people refer to this as a hobby I thought,"Hobby? This ain't no hobby for me. This is my life". I play with them, work with them, have friends by them, enjoy events and gatherings because of them, and on and on. I love old stuff and feel most modern consumer products are diversions more than necessary in a happy live. I know what I want and know what I like, and running pre-73 (and later) GM Trucks has always been part of my life. This isn't just a reference site, it's a social site, and so are all forums to some extent. You can use this site solely as a manual, but you can also make friends, learn things never found in manuals, and even get a chuckle or two. I feel like I just ranted, then I look at the title, "Comments on this site". Well...there ya go!

Just my observation, but this site is one of the best run sites I have found. I discovered this place when I was in Afghanistan and even bought my '69 from a member here. I always enjoyed these 67-72 trucks and really dislike I sold a '67 GMC 3/4 LWB years ago.
I am finally near completion of the engine redo/install and there is lots about my truck that I simply did not know about. Many members here have helped me and I have been able to solve many issues simply by reading lots of threads that had similar problems to mine.

This is a great site and worth every penny of the membership fee.

This site is bar none the best forum on the net.... Josh and Liz and all the staff do a tremendous job of keeping it that way...It is an island of paradise in a sea of Sodom and Gomorrah that the world wide web can be.

I have made several friends on here that I enjoy jawing with that I have never met. And some that I have.

That is way bigger than any membership fee will ever be.
