68' patina anniversary front clip

Sold

Mostly complete 68' anniversary front clip. I bought this awhile back for my 68 but I just can't force myself to strip it for paint. It features all OEM GM paint in its natural 47 year old patina glory! light surface rust in some areas ( inside of fenders, bottom of core) . Appears that the front grill was reshot at one point A LONG time ago as it matches the white on the lower fenders perfectly. I left the inner fender tubs as I ran out of room in my wife's Denali XL

Whats included..

1) drivers side with fender/side badge
2) passenger side with fender/eyebrow trim /side badge O.E. dealer decal from Denver, CO.
3) front grill assembly complete with latch/ upper/lower trim/ bowtie
4) complete core support with headlight buckets, bulb rings, GOOD battery tray, washer bottle holder, and headlight harness

I'd like to find someone who could use it the way it is for a patina 50th.

I'm going to check and see if the hood is available too. I heard the owner had "secret stash". I'll get pics posted over the weekend. Winter has come back to Colorado.

your best value is parting it out. what i would ask... $150-200 per fender if they are perfect. $30 eyebrow trim pair. $10-15 per side trim piece. $20/pair badges. $150 grille complete. $20 latch. core support $125. battery tray $30. washer bracket $10. headlight harness $10. all together $500. problem is finding someone with an original paint 50th needing fenders... just my opinion!

oh and i agree, save that original paint!

Re: 68' patina anniversary front clip

I'll get some good pics up and let it sit for awhile. I was originally going to just buy the passenger fender and hang it on my garage wall, but once I started digging I found the entire thing.

I would LOVE to see this setup used just the way it is, but it will need new brow trim. That aluminum doesn't hold up well once it gets banged around.

front grill assembly, appears to have been repainted once over Colorado rock chips. SOLID GM metal, only minor surface rust.

Re: 68' patina anniversary front clip

I wish you had the rest of the truck, a patina'd 68 50th longbed is my dream truck. I already have buddy buckets and hubcaps for it even though I don't have the truck yet. I guess if I bought your front clip I'd be that much closer to my dream lol.

On another note, if you decide to split everything up I'm interested in the passenger fender. I'd hate to paint over it but I need to replace the crunched one that is currently on my Longhorn.

Re: 68' patina anniversary front clip

I'd sell everything pictured for the right price just to clear up some garage space...

Since the good OE parts are only becoming more and more scarce and harder to find as time passes, around here the prices definitely haven't gotten any cheaper than what I had posted in the below linked thread (reply #4) some years back. Since posting, I know for sure that the earlier fenders have went up in value due to the lack of availability. Mel

Re: 68' patina anniversary front clip

Bowtiguy,

As planned, at the time we discussed the clip, I'm in Indiana. I will be leaving here on Friday, home late Friday evening. I have your number at the house and I'll call you either this weekend or early in the week! I want to set up a time to for us to see the clip.

While I appreciate your patience, and I will follow through, if you come up with another cash-in-hand buyer within the week I could hardly blame you for letting it go. Should you decide to sell it, just give me a call/PM and I'll move on!

v/r,

don

"I have a local sale lined up, if its not sold by the time my parents drive out from the Rockford area at the end of may, we'll work something out. They usually drive an impala but my father has a full size chevy truck too. If I offset his gas, I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Cheaper than freight shipping, can't imagine how much that would be."

That was my last PM. Hardly constitutes a sale and I'm not trying to bait/switch or turn this into some kind of bidding war. Although, I should have held off posting today until my local buyer gets back into town.

I haven't confirmed if I can get the clip back to Illinois or not. With that said, our deal was if its still available at that time AND I could get it to you it was yours. If it doesn't sell locally in the next 75 days AND I can talk my father into driving 1800 miles round trip to come see his grandson, we'll have a deal.

Obviously, a local sale in the short term benefits both the local buyer and seller ( and clears out some space in my garage). The first person that got in touch with me is from Colorado Springs. He had to leave the state for 10 days to tend to his ill father. When He returns, does get first crack at it. If we can't work something out and you want to come pick it up between now and 6/1, its yours!
