Is there a number stamped into the face of the cylinder where the key goes in?

If there is and you know the brand name of the cap you should be able to go to a full service locksmith shop and get a key cut for it from that code number. That or maybe call the company that made it and get a key for it through them.

Be careful. I tried rippin one off due to no key. Now have half a gas cap in tank bottom. Gonna get it out as soon as it gets warm.

Yup...probably be able to do it with a Google search to create and use a couple of properly bent paperclips....

Don't let the wife know though...otherwise you'll be replacing all your house locks with high-dollar secure locks!
