Windshield rubber with trim
I've heard nightmare stories about windshield rubber for chrome trim. Anyone have any good experiences? Are there any brands that work.

I haven't had a lot of problem installing windshields with the trim. First off you have to make sure the windshield rubber and trim are matched. There are two different styles. The '67-'70 has a 5/8" lip on the trim and the '71-'72 has a 3/8" lip on the trim, so the rubber gasket has to match. The '67-'70 is easier to install because the deeper trim stays in the rubber much better while installing.. I have always bought Precision brand rubber gaskets but I think they sold out to another company. I don't know the name now. Do not buy aftermarket trim.... Use OEM LockDoc

Re: Windshield rubber with trim
As stated make sure you buy the right rubber for the right trim.
My daughter and son both helped me do all my windows in the 71. Take your time and having plenty of help along with some plastic knives will help and some gasket picks. As so small rope to pull the rubber into the grooves along with soapy water is a must. It took me 3 tries before I got the top corners in the 71 the way I wanted them. Just take your time and it will turn out fine.

Re: Windshield rubber with trim
My professional glazier of 30 years experience gave up on mine---He gave me the W/S for cost and said he would never attempt another---this was his glass and rubber----so I will have to take it out and leave it I guess

Re: Windshield rubber with trim
Finding the right glass guy is critical. I just had mine installed and he took less than an hour to do both front and rear. He brought his own windshield gasket and used my old rear window gasket and my re-polished trim for both. I know some glazers won't take this on but he did it very easily. Keep looking. The right guy can get it done.

Does the aftermarket trim fit that bad?

Re: Windshield rubber with trim
I used precision brand seals and my original stainless trim. Contact GMC Paul's
