Re: C List Post in TX (not mine)
Interesting. Looks like no power steering, so it might be a handful to drive, but that could be fixed.

Big block, 4 speed and manual steering. That one would be a workout when driving, but it is a good combination none-the-less. Not sure about the 454 claim, but who knows without checking the numbers.
Would like to see the SPID on this one.

The 71 C-30 I bought just a couple of weeks ago didn't have power steering, that was the first upgrade I planned but the guy who delivered it to me told me to drive it first he said it steers amazingly well. Jim

Re: C List Post in TX (not mine)
While the campers are nice, who really wants one? The wife doesn't want to ride around in a camper smelling of mold/mildew.
There's a doorway cut in the back of the cab so it's useless. A 454 isn't worth $3k. I had a 69 C20 w/ manual steering that was my only vehicle for 5 years. Once moving, they steer ok. The thing is, you drive differently with manual steering. You don't sit still and crank the wheel; you pop the clutch to take weight off the front and then steer. You don't park the same either. |

The cab isn't anything to fix. I have a body shop though and specialize in wreck rebuilding and one of witch is rollovers so doing what we in the business call a clip cab is not that big of a deal. if it were cheaper and closer I would love to have it just to put it in line behind several other projects and make something out of it. Re: C List Post in TX (not mine)
I spoke with the seller tonight. He is selling it for another gentleman who isn't computer savvy. He said it is a one ton truck that had the box camper installed a few years ago. One trip and then it got parked. It hasn't been started in many years. He is emailing me a picture of the SPID which I will post here. It has been on CL for several weeks with very few calls. Seller is not sure if this 454 is original to the truck. I may go look at it Sunday - he is about one hour west of me. It might be a fun project to add to the stable - and my wife would enjoy fixing up the inside of the camper.
I'll repot back if I go see it.
