Drive belt system ideas?
Looking for a new drive belt system, preferably serpentine, and can't believe the costs for a new system. Don't really care if its black, chrome, etc., just good looking and a clean set up as I dont really care for the stock serpentine look.
Any suggestions on where to look? |

Re: Drive belt system ideas?
Look from the 90-95 C or K series truck. It doesn't matter if it has a V-8 or V-6. Also the S or T series small trucks with the 4.3 vin Z had the same bracket from 88-93. After the 95 model the motor went to the Vortec type from the TBI and the A/C switch sides to the drivers side making thing harder to do for the 67-72 truck in my opinion. Jim

Re: Drive belt system ideas?
You will need the water pum and fan as well cause they will turn backwards from what you have now but it all else will work and will do fine on there. thousands of guys are running that set up on their trucks right now. In fact I'm gonna put one on my latest grab soon. Jim

thanks guys i've seen that system before but would rather have aftermarket look instead, but never realized the cost of those systems until today, if I can't find one reasonable I guess I will go that route

If you are going stock use the GMPP serp setup, PN 12497697. Summit has the non AC kit for $700.00. The brackets are all cast iron, not stamped metal.

Re: Drive belt system ideas?
the stock setups can be cleaned up and polished, there is also a lot of material that can be removed to make them more streamlined.
I prefer the Camaro/caprice setup to the truck setup. the Camaro/caprice setup spaces the alt and ac out to the side more than the truck setup.

Re: Drive belt system ideas?
This is true. But for an even cheaper setup I went with the c-k truck route. I bought one setup on this forum for about 100 shipped. There is however a fella on here that specializes in these setups. I bet he will be here soon. I will look for the link. Here you go- http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=503044 It's a great system and you get an updated alternator system too!

Re: Drive belt system ideas?
I just purchased a complete set up from March performance that came with the water pump, alternator, and power steering pump. I think they call it the street eliminator kit. Cost without the belts was about $700. Mine is powder coated black.
Rob No pictures cause it ain't put on yet. |
