Fuel Sending Unit Fitting Question..

So I swapped the in cab tank for a new one and a new sending unit. I took out the old one, put in the new gear. No leaks, runs great and then I turn it off and the sending unit-fuel line connection is just weeping a bit. I decide to snug it up, 1/4 turn, and it snaps. Now the tank has gas in it and the brass snapped in half.

My question is, Would it be worth it to remove old brass fitting, off of the old tank and putting it on the new sending unit in the new tank? Problem is that the sending unit line is flared on the inside and soldered to the brass on the outside. Otherwise it is getting a new sending unit and that is $50... Thoughts?

Will the brass fitting come off the chrome line? If it does, can you use a compression fitting on that line? It may take an extra fitting to complete that.

#1 cut off brass fitting,use fuel hose and 2 clamps,probably not the safe fix!

#2 bite the bullet and get the 50 dollar sender. sleep at night enjoy your truck and get ready for the next------ problem,you know its coming !! #3 or use compression coupling as suggested above I didnt think of that

Should u decide to use 'rubber hose and clamps', buy fuel-injection hose for the flex. Next time, hold both nuts up close to each other when tightening.

Have u talked to seller about replacing unit/?...maybe all u have to pay would be shipping. Keep in mind, it must've been made from less than quality product in the 1st place. Lastly, before investing too much, and if using stock gauge, ensure the sender is a 0-30 ohm unit!

It will if I cut it off, which is why I was thinking of just replacing it with the old brass fitting off of my old sending unit, they are flared and soldered on. I didn't think about a compression fitting..

I was thinking the same thing, thin-walled brass. It is a stock gauge, 30ohm.
