1969 GMC half ton lowering question.
Looking at lowering my 1969 gmc and had a few questions. The truck has rear leaf springs on it. I have seen the lowering leaf springs on ece and wanted to know if anyone has installed these on there vehicle. Do you need to c-notch the frame with them. Also would it be easier to swap to a rear coil spring rear end on it? Any info would be nice. Thanks

Re: 1969 GMC half ton lowering question.
My '69 Chevy short step is a leaf spring truck. I did not use the leafs but a DJM flip kit which puts the rear axle on top of the springs. I used CalTrac bars for bottom plates instead of the ones that came in the kit. I spent the same in the end but consider the CalTracs were included feel I came out ahead. The flip lowered the rear 7" and I relocated the sock mount to the unused hole in the OEM setup. I drilled it out and used a mount from a new set of KYB fronts. No C-notch. Cut the overload "plates" off the axle housing and put 1/2" poly bumstop on frame for occasional smacks.
I have front KYB's all the way around. Front is 2 1/2" ECE disc spindle and 2" springs. 17x8 4.5" bs 235 55 17 in front 17x9 5" bs 275 55 17 rear.
